ENGLISH EXPOSITION
please take note to leave out the words in the brackets when marking thanks.
(at this point in time i have totally no inspiration and its 2 and a half hours to midnight. wonderful)

In today's modern society, the importance of popularity has risen on the scales. To be popular, in today's context refers to being well-known and well-liked by one's peers, family or workplace colleagues. In dictionary.com definition, "popular" is defined as, regarded with favor, approval, or affection by people in general.

Why is a person's "level" of popularity deemed so important nowadays? (freak, no idea wht the following line should be. stoned for 5 mins alr.) Not only in school but in also workplaces and among our friends. What ever age we are, popularity (or the lack of it) will always affect our lives.

In school, exchanging gossips is a very prominent activity that everyone is involved in. The common misconception is that boys do not gossip. Maybe it was true in the past but it certainly isn't true in the present. In fact, most juicy gossip details come from the boys who did not need much persuading to exchange these gossips. Why talk about gossip when the original topic was about popularity? Typically, in school, gossip is all about people. About how who did what or who is with whom. And to reach that level where people even bother talking about what happened to you, one would have to

Good evening dear Principals and Board of Directors,

i'm here to discuss the abolishment of school uniforms in our school. As you all already know, more and more secondary schools in Singapore have been following the steps of many American and European schools by abolishing the use of school uniforms. The abolishment of school uniforms will not only bring about a more colourful campus, but a change in attitude in the students too.

The abolishment of school uniforms also mean that the students will have the freedom to wear their own choice of clothes and the school will also have to come up with a reasonable dress code.
Dress codes in most US schools usually include limits on skin exposure. They generally include prohibitions on clothing with tears or holes, exposure of undergarments, and anything that is obscene, gang-related, or unsafe. But i also feel that the school should not restrict the girls from wearing short skirts or from sleeveless tops. i understand that as students, we come to school, not only to gain wisdom in the various subjects, but also to learn morals and have a chance to have our character moulded by the school. The school may think that by allowing students to wear short skirts and sleeveless tops etc. may not be good for the school's reputation.

On a more serious note, i believe that the school is concerned for the students about the inconvenience of wearing certain types of clothes. But i feel that concerning this, it is really up to the students themselves. As students and young adults, we have a right to make our own decisions. We also need the space to grow and make mistakes. If wearing a certain item of clothing to school inconvenienced or posed as a threat to school rules, it would be wiser to let us try wearing it and then finding it out for ourselves and making the decision not to wear it again. Let's say the school does not allow short skirts for example, there will of course be students who feel the need to rebel against the school rules and will start wearing skirts that are much shorter than allowed. And thus the school will feel a need to punish these students as an example to the other students. Because of the stubborn character of most students at these ages, a vicious cycle will emerge with these students rebelling against the school rules and the teachers punishing them and "running" around trying to "catch" these rebellious students. Wouldn't it be much easier for the students to learn for themselves?

Also, I'm sure that the school probably has concerns about a decrease in academic results with the abolishment of school uniforms, with worries that students may become more vain and spend less time on their studies. But after research done by the students, we have found that a study published in The Journal of Education Research by David L. Brunsma, stated that student uniforms neither improved attendance and discipline nor decreased drug use. According to Brunsma and Rockquemore, uniforms did not significantly improve academic performance or students' attitudes toward school, peer-group relations were not improved, and that uniforms had a negative effect on student attitudes.

For days when students have PE lessons, the school can come up with a list of appropriate sportswear for the students so as to guide the students as to what to wear for PE and make it compulsory.

I sincerely hope that my suggestions will be considered. Thank You.

ANNOUNCEMENT : ANGELA'S PHONE HAS BEEN STOLEN SO PLEASE DO NOT WASTE SMSES BY SMSING HER NUMBER TILL FURTHER NOTICE THANKS.

yes, my phone and my wallet (and many other important stuffs) has been stolen by some idiot malay with golden hair ( at least thats what ppl say ). not that im a racist or what. but if i could find that motherfckr i will bash him till his features become freakin unrecogniseable. bloody hell.

anyway, on a much happier note, I FINALLY READ HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS ;D

okaye, i think im gonna sound like im writing a book review but oh well, who cares since i like the book anyway (;

but im freakin pissed with JK Rowling for only using FIVE pages to describe harry's life nineteen years later after the "war"! and how come she didn't describe the wedding and stuffs?! hooooooowwww could she do this to all her harry potter fans??! D: yes im quite disappointed with the ending. but other than that, the book has been pretty much fantastic.

celeste lent it to me on saturday, the morning of the 2.4 run at east coast. and i finished reading it on sunday DDDD: totally not trying to boast about my reading speed or wht cos i know many ppl who finish it in a day. but the point is, MY EYES WERE PRACTICALLY GLUED TO THE BOOK THE WHOLE TIME PLEASE :D many funny parts in the book made me laugh(;

and somehow one of my favourite parts of the book was the part where Hermione and Ron finally kissed. which i think is pretty stupid cos it was pretty much in the middle of the "war" and the thing is, they spent practically SIX BOOKS pretending they didn't like each other and finally they "came clean" at the last book. they certainly took long enough(;

the book, if i don't remember wrongly, is about 647 pages, and to me, not long enough. I'm still grieving over the fact that, its finally the end and that there's no more harry potter stories to look forward toooooo DDDD: another thing i hated about the book was that so many freaking ppl died. but harry didnt obviously ;D so Mr tan's theory that JK Rowling would kill off harry so that no one can continue the series is WRONG ;D I'm kind of glad he lived((:

okay okay, end of book review. im off to search for a replacement handphone.

CIP at simei care centre ytd. it was a pretty nice place i guess. but we didn't do much or interact much with the residents thr. we were divided into two groups and half of us went into this room whr we helped to do some handicrafts. yupp(: this very particular old auntie taught us how to tie ribbons. sounds easy right? but not easy if you have to follow the extremely precise instructions of the old auntie T.T but i think she's actually a pretty nice person(: then bella took out her phone to take a pic of us all with the old auntie(: vanessa was like, the only person at another table and when she saw us taking photo she rushed over to take with us(: super cute please((: hahas :D we only took one photo though. i'll upload it whn vanessa sends it to me or smth(: thn we went back to this room which we first went into. waited for the other group and then we went home frm simei MRT.

okaye, tht was a pretty lame attempt to revive this dead english blog. and i admit, i kop-ed the above paragraph from my personal blog. but i guess it doesn't matter cos in the end it was typed by me(:

i think i really like old songs :D not old songs as in those in our parents generations or what but rather i meant those that we used to listen to when we were uh, arnd pri 6? those tht we used to like alot and listen to all day until they got replaced by newer songs. thr's just this beautiful sense of nostalgia tht makes you wna smile and tear at the same time. i think music is like such a big part of my life. every song i listen to seems to have some sort of personal meaning to me. it seems to transport me back to the time i kept listening to the song. to the many different stages of my life. those life changing ones and those not as significant ones. the times whr made lots of new friends. the times i lost my closest friends. the times i got my heartbroken. the times whr i thought i found love. the times i felt lost and hurt and really wanted to cry. thr's a special song for each and every one of those events. i love music. plus my latest addiction is jay chou's ke ai nv ren. its on repeat right now :D its one of my favourite old songs. brings back lots of memories too. memories tht no one wld understand but me.
